The Avenal Chimes is a weekly newspaper that has published continuously since March 1997. In December of 2000 it was adjudicated as a newspaper of general circulation and publishes legal notices. 3000 copies are printed each week at a nearby printer. The newspaper covers city events and community affairs. The advertising base is the City of Avenal, but also surrounding towns advertise. There is a lot of room for growth and could be run by a single owner who is willing to put in the work, or a manager could hire out help. We do pay people to roll and throw the papers and one person distributes to businesses. This newspaper has never lost money in its 18 years of existence.
