If ever there was a time when budding media magnates who see themselves running a satellite TV service over Australia or a terrestrial TV station, well then its time to look carefully....at the DOWN UNDER CHANNEL....The Sydney Young Family have placed their Dunedin New Zealand TV Broadcast license on the market and the Marketplace they chose first was MEDIA MAN AUSTRALIA. Spokesman Gary Young said that a meeting of the family had decided to dispose of the license because the proposed plans to bring the inDOWN UNDER CHANNELin to fruition have been put on hold for a variety of reasons.
Young described the DOWN UNDER CHANNEL as a package of programming which included newsy bits and pieces mainly about what's happening in the TV/Movie/Music/Entertainment biz all over Australia and NZ and packaged daily into a 4 hour slot. This would then be uplinked from the Sydney production area by satellite and rebroadcast on the New Zealand Station. The show would then be able to be seen by all of the satellite users in Australia and New Zealand areas. Similar to US Cable TV programming the show would then be rebroadcast 6 times a day over the 24 hour period.
