Reason for Sale I started the newspaper back when my husband and I had a new baby, but our son is school age now. I am considering a return to my original career.
Description The Western Canyon Chronicle went weekly in June of 2007. (It appeared biweekly before that.) With a circulation of 650, WCC covers the rural western half of Canyon County, Idaho, 50 miles from Boise. The cities in this farming & seed-producing area are Parma, Notus, Wilder and Greenleaf. Half our papers are mailed to subscribers, half sell at a dozen local stores.
The $25,000 asking price includes two computers, publishing software, office furniture, subscriber & ad databases, plus periodicals permit. Seller remains available to advise. A part-time reporter, who is able to do layout if need be, hopes to be kept on. She writes opinion and advice columns as well as covering news from two of our four towns. This newspaper can be scaled back to a one-town paper (Parma) if the new owner does not want employees. Ask seller about the pros and cons of having a half county versus a one-town scope. Email or call (208) 722-5610 for more information on this Newspaper business for sale.
