Just like many countries in Latin America, the Prison System in Costa Rica is about to collapse. Overpopulation, scarce basic human needs resources and just two of the many issues we experience now-a-days. Jail modules designed to hold 18 prisoners currently hold 40. Overall infrastructure is in bad condition, doctor cannot provide treatment properly and officers have huge problems handling masses. For this reason and estimates of jail population clearly went wrong. It got to a point where our Citizen Defend Office (Defensoria de los Habitantes) ordered the Judicial Power (Tribunes) to take immediate action to solve the problem. This investment project comprehends an alternative solution to the problem. In this scenario we have successfully accomplished a number of actions in order to build and rent to the Government a Prison Facility. The entire facility will be rented to the government for a period of 15 years. They will carry maintenance costs, staffing, food, medical attention and many other services every prisoner has the right to have. Here are the numbers at a glance: Prison Capacity: 1,500 Lease per day per convict: $4 Monthly gross income: $180,000 Monthly net income: $114,000 Now, one of the stages we've accomplished is to have a pre-approved loan from Banco Nacional of Costa Rica of $10 million.
